Just an update the tanks currently planted with an absolute pile of wandering dew, two bunches of Elodea and two bunches of foxtail, my java moss still hasn't arrived, It's being run by 50g per hour pump which has filter floss over the intake and has a 50w heater which is currently doing a great job at heating the tank. But some unwanted things moved in, thers a small amount of algae, thousands of mosquito larvae and quite a few baby snails. So today I tested the tank (Nitrates and Ammonia were both 0) as I'd had a plant die a few days ago and was worried it'd hurt the tank, but everythings happy so i moved in some fishes.
Mr Molly my imaginatively named Sailfin Molly is now enjoying himself greatly with all the algae, snails and insects and my two dwarf gouramis (G1 and G2) who were having trouble in my other 20g (didnt have enough hiding places for em, and my rainbow shark was torturing them) are hunting down all the snails and mosquito larvae.
I think I'll stay with just those guys for a while, I'm still really iffy on the gouramis as neither have ever looked all that healthy but Mr Molly's happy. Will post pics in a few mins.
