Puffers are really sensitive fish (i've heard) and wont do good in communites because they require so much care that other fish dont need? Thats just my guess...haha. So I wouldnt go for the puffers.

And I'm just getting into cichlids! But I heard that if they are housed with smaller schools of fish they will get overly aggressive and eat them all. They are very terrotorial and eat almost anything that will fit in their mouthes. But I'm sure there are exceptions. Ha. Dont do oscars though, you need like a 100g tank per oscar. I would definately stay away from them, they are my dream fish for when I get that 125g aquarium I've always wanted. Hahaha, truly, no joke.
