when I had mine in a 10 gallon moments after putting a live earthworm int here he caught it. they seem movement and attack it, and use smell to find it. I put a bunch of chunks of earthworms in there, he literally sat on top of them and attacked the fish swimming around them. he then ate a snail that happened to be traveling by. I never saw him spit it up either.
