I believe the coral you are talking about is Xenia. If so raise the salinity alittle like suggested. I'd probably do it with a water change. If it is xenia I'd not worry about the shape its in to start with. Mine looked like hell the first few days I got it. Since the end of feb it has grown 6 times larger. They like alot of light if you put it up high they get kinda bushy. If you leave them low they seem to tend to try stretching up to the light and get stringy. I originally had mine in a 55 gal with 80 watts of NO lighting.
