Yep. Most people walking into a fish store expect to get honest advice from fish stores. Only some, like us, realize that the information is probably false and even think of researching a fish outside of asking store employees before buying. Well, that's what I'm saying. They should still be able to sell in your LFS. It's not like they should be banished. I think people should do some researching (at the very least) before they buy a Pacu, a Bala, or an IR.
However, I do agree that they should maybe put a sign of warning how big these fish can grow on their tank before they sell it. I don't ever trust the people at PetSmart or Petco with fish. No one should, those people are not knowledgable in fish at all. I go to another fish store (specializing in only fish, lots of cool saltwater stuff, a true fish store) and I totally trust them there. They are right about everything so far it seems.
I recently bought two Bala Sharks and I didn't know how big they could get. Fortunately, I have room for them, but they got HUGE. Like way big, I'm not sure how big exactly.
Same with my Headstander, although I did tons and tons of researching and asked everybody, my Headstander just overgrew. He ate too much, he'll probably get bloated and die off.
