Level Drummer is right, glass is too smooth of a surface. But, If you are careful then you could sand the part of the glass where you want to glue it to. This will give the glue much more surface area to attach to and the bond will not only take, but will be pretty strong. There is a good probability that the cap will grow too large to be held up by the glue. It could work if the cap had a heavier spiral where it met the glass so that there was a substantial amount of cap holding onto the glass. To make this work the best you would have to sand everywhere you think the monti cap could grow and connect to the glass.
You can change the way a coral grows by changing the direction of flow, but I am not sure how to change it to affect montipora.
I say its possible and would be really cool, but could prove to be quite the feat.
