I found a post on here that mentioned how to reduce the filter flow by cutting a plastic bottle and placing it under the flow to disperse it a bit because bettas don't like the flow. So it essentially makes a little tunnel in which the water output is dumped into and flows out the sides of it. Anyways, often times when I watch the tank, I see the betta constantly swimming back and forth INSIDE the tunnel created by the bottle, and have even seen him laying in it, so apparently he does not mind the flow! If that is the case, will leaving that out and just letting the filter output flow naturally be better in keeping the tank clean, or will it make a difference?
