from my understanding, jelly bean cichlids are white parrots that have been dyed a very light color, thus they are the color of jelly beans. the ones my LFS used to sell were green, yellow, blue, pink, etc, but very light. in order to tattoo a fish, they have to pull it out of the water, wipe the slime coat off, tattoo them, then they normally get thrown back into a medicated tank to stop any infection. if anyone has better information, please do correct me.
