Default Saturday morning surprise

I was watching the fish in our 55 gallon SA tank yesterday morning when our grandson said "Look at the little fishy". Peering closely I was surprised to see a juvenile lemon tetra about 1/2 inch long! He looked just like the rest of the lemons except much smaller. We had been observing spawning behavior among the lemons, males staking out a territory and putting on a display, but had not noticed any eggs. I have searched carefully but have not found any other young but the tank is heavily planted with lots of rocks and driftwood so there could be other survivors as well. It was a pleasant start to the day.

As a side note, the 5 tiny ancistrus we bought at the June meeting are doing great. They have trebled in size and are looking an awful lot like one of the gold nugget varieties.
