I have four 3/4watt LEDs in my Coralife fixture on my 120g, and I like the way it looks at night. It's not very bright at all (especially considering the way my vallisneria lays across the top of the water), but I think it just adds something.
I also have a 1watt LED on my 30g reef, and it makes it a little easier to see any little nocturnal creepy-crawlies that show themselves after lights out. LOL
Unless you're going to be able to watch your tank at night, I don't see much use for 'em. (Both of mine are in my bedroom.) I hope this helps!
