Default Welcome to Fishforums

Welcome to fish forums.com. This site is dedicated to the aquarium hobby, a knowledge base to find out and share ideas with people who have been in the hobby for 2 decades or 2 weeks.
We try to create a pleasant family atmosphere here at fishforums as all ages are welcome at this site. We recently have had a few more moderators join the team and they are here to answer all your aquarium needs and try to make the forum an overall better place for the average member. I hope you enjoy your time here on the site and here are a few guide lines:

Before posting could you please ensure that the following things have been done before other members start to get confused, annoyed, and to make sure that your post is of optimum quality.

1) Please before emmiting your post make sure that the question you have asked is as descriptive and in as much detail as possible so that your post gets as many awnsers as possible from other members on the forum so that you don't need to ask the same question in the future but just reworded as I've seen before. For example: "What type of fish would be suitable for my 55g tank."
We need to know exactly the type of fish that would suit you, your water parameters, and the other inhabatants present in the tank, also filteration etc.

2) Try not to blabber on either, most people don't want to spend five minutes trying to figure out exactly what you are trying to ask.

3) Have a skim through the other recently posted topics to prevent a question which has only just been answered.

4) And don't be embaressed to ask things that might be a bit out of the ordinary, I've seen a lot of this going on: "It might be a bit of a stupid thing to ask, but I'm kinda new here and I'm not really that sure on what to do" Don't be, people are here to help and we were all once beginers.

But most importantly, have fun, if something is bothering you or you don't agree with something someones said don't hessitate to ask either the super moderators: myself or TheOldSalt, The administrator Shaggy, or the moderaters Lisachromis, Simpte, maxpayne
or Fishnut2, Baby_baby, Fish_Doc Fishfirst, Fishfreaks

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded:
Serrasalmus
Tetradon
(figure eights and dwarfs are the
exception).

I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families:
Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers.
