Basically, you bid on the fish you want and pay the payer usually via paypal and then they send the item you bought out to you. It's a good site and a lot of good trusted sellers on there.
I've been on AB since about a year after it opened. Check the sellers feedback before buying. I've really enjoyed the site, and made a lot of new fish friends over the years.
I've used AquaBid several times and have had good luck most of them, but I have to warn you their is no protection if someone decides to stiff you or things don't arrive as they should.
Paypal's story --> says will protect Ebay Purchases, beyond that it's up to them and they'll tell you straightforward that they'll more than likely NOT protect you through other sites.
Credit Card protection --> will normally protect you for most items, but normally won't on live things (ie. plants, fish, inverts).
If/When purchasing be sure to check sellers feedback, check to make sure you have a contact phone number, and always thoroughly read ANY listing to see what the return/d.o.a policy is.
It is US based, so you will need to read the fine print in the seller's listing. US seller usualy don't, but some of the Asian seller's ship worldwide. International shipping can be very expensive so ask about cost before committing to a deal.
The main difference between Aquabid & eBay is in that buyers & sellers deal with each other more directly on AB, instead of doing everything through the site as you see on eBay.
what is the sellers feedback like ?
i have been selling fishfood on aquabid for many years..i buy almost all of my fish from there..a sellers feedback is very important...read it carefully as there are also bad buyers out there that will leave bad feedback for no reason..
So my 4 Rams should get here tomorrow. Plus he is adding a 5th just in case of lost and a black marble angel.
Update: Just got them and they look awsome. Healthy no issue. Great seller.
