What kind of green algea (hair, slime,macro)? What kind of water are you using (O.R.water, tap) since some water sources will put in nutrients to help them buggers bloom. Lighting and duration?
By changing one thing might be enough but most of the time major tune up is required (moving tank away from window, better water) I might be able to suggest a plan if you mention a bit more info.
