ok, the supposed freshwater snowflake moray eel is BRACKISH not freshwater. They can inhabit all water levels but really don't do good in freshwater for long periods of time. THey go into saltwater to breed, and that's only a somewhat short period. So it's going to have to be kept in a 90 gal min tank that's brackish and maybe a high sg change here and there (during winter?) but not a huge change at once...slowly lol.
Second of all the "eel" (spiny eels aren't actually eels) needs a bigger tank than 20 or 30 gallons (whatever mentioned) a 50 or bigger is a much better choice. ^0 gallon long really seems to make them feel comfortable.
Plants can sometimes be kept with them, ive seen them personally kept in highly planted tanks, from what i've seen they kind of ignore plants and stay in open areas of sand. Yours may dig them up but ya never know.
