I wouldn't say boiling... 80 degrees isn't exactly hot... its just a little warmer than it should be. But thank you for the helpful post turtlehead...

if you can't afford to get new lights... I would find someway to prop your fixture up away from the top (such as two peices of wood, or plastic that raise the fixture off the top a half an inch or so... this will give the light some ventilation and it will possibly cool the tank a few degrees.
