Macro will help by sucking up phosphate, but it won't eat all that much silicate. That's good enough, though. It will also promote good conditions in the tank for the other organisms which will eat up all the excess silicate & phosphate. Don't expect overnight miracle results, but don't be shocked if you get them, either. it could go either way. You don't have a lot of rock yet, which means you don't have much coralline, which means the diatoms don't have much competition.
