Argh diatoms! I had a bunch of trouble with them while setting up my nano. However once I added some C. Taxifolia (sadly we there is no cheato in Aus) to my HOB filter it has almost disapeared. Eventually, once your tank matures and becomes stable, they should go away anyway but this can take a long time and it is unpleasant to be looking a a tank covered in them for months and months. Iim not sure if you have one, but a protein skimmer would also extract nutrients from the water, and in turn reduce the amount of diatoms.

In the end just be patient! They will go away eventually!
