And a final suggestion that is right down the street for me, is Park Avenue Pets (on Monroe, not Park).
i'll have to check these 2 places out.

also take a look at this from COM in BUF (post #11).

yay! my stuff has arrived! +1 for big al's being about 80 miles away.

added nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium per directions on the bottle.

i just tested the water before added the stuff:

ammonia - 0
nitrite - 0.25
nitrate - 5
pH - more than 7.6

i'll test again in a few hours to see if the stuff does anything to the levels.

also, the water stinks and there's a layer of "slime" on everything. must be this algae everyone is talking about since my nitrogen is low. right?

OK. i'm gonna go ahead call a code here.

i brushed up against one of my baby ferns when i moved the driftwood, and now it's missing. nothing to be found upon a cursory inspection. will look more tonight, and if not, let's hope it does OK until i tear things up this weekend.

Gil_ong81 where did you get your java moss? I'd love to get something mossy growing/attached to my driftwood but am unclear on what grows the fastest and would produce the quickest coverage.

i got it at the LFS in ridgemont plaza on west ridge road, aka Pet World Aqua Shoppe. the one you told me about.

they don't alway have them, but they have them in little containers (like if you got a pint of soup form a chinese place) on a pretty regular basis. they usually sit on the edge of the "pond" together with the betas. $2.98 + tax.

i've also seen containers of something else hairy which name i don't remember. moss? algae? something basic like that.

in one of the plant tanks, they also have "balls of moss."

the only thing i worry about ti that it might choke out the java ferns or the java moss that's on the other piece of driftwood.
