dead plants?

I have an expensive aquarium lamp, and i put plant food in the tank once a week. My plants always die, their leaves fall off and they just uproot themselves and float to the top. My fish are thriving, but not the plants. Any suggestions?

They will need to know what type of lights you have including the wattage, how big your tank is, what type of plant food you are using, how deep your tank is, what plants your trying to grow and what substrate you are using in order to help you.

My first guess right off the top of my head is that you are running a normal fishtank filter on this tank, right? Plants and filters don't get along well unless you take steps to fix that.

I have a 20 gallon tank, 55 wat light bulb, and i use leaf zone. not sure how deep it is, but im guessing 18 inches? and yes i have a regular filter...what can i do to help the plants and filter get along?

Does the filter output move the plants around alot?

I have regular filters in my planted tanks (canisters and HOB-hang on backs), but I position plants away from the filter output.

Another question, what plants have you tried that die on you? My first guess was that you didn't have enough light, but 55w is good.

And what is your substrate? Regular gravel, sand, something else?
