well i have some extera money now so im gonna go out tommorow and get my newts a new tank. i have 2 firebellies and i am going to try to get a 10 or a 20. i will probably put a betta in with them and maybe some dwarf cories. i need to cycle this tank before putting them in it, right?o, and what might happen is if i can get a 20 i will probably put my newts in my fishes 10 gallon, and then put my fish in the 20 OR get new fish for the 20, but we will see what happens

i would rethink the betta. they have a tendicy to me aggressive and nibble at limbs. get something passive. and yes you need to cycle. and make sure the water is chlorine free. they absorb through there skin so chlorine could kill. the newts would do good in the 10 gallon. maybe get some guppies to keep them intertained. or even make a palindrome.

and about feeding? how do and what do you currently feed them. try isolating him in a small container with a little water (about 1/4") and dropping food in there. or hand feed him. it helps if it looks alive and they can smell it.

well i set it up. i kinda wasnt the smartest about it because i didnt have any place to put there old crappy 5 gallon so what i did was i filled it with water from my dads 20 and added a bit of new water(dechlorinated) and then i took the sponge from my aquaclear on my 10 gallon and rinsedit out in the newt tank to put as much beneficial bacteria in as possible. so i had no way i cud keep the newts in the 5 gallon for a while, so i let the tank run for a few hours and then put the newts on there litle styofoam island i made and then let them aclimate themselves. i saw one newt go into the water and it made me so happy to see him swimming in a bigger tank. and just so i can tell u how bad the 5 gallon was, i would much rather put them in an uncycled tank then leave them in there. thats y i got this tank ASAP. o, and for fish,. i might put the 2 white clouds from my other 10 in there tank and maybe put 2 or 3 more in. sorry for the long post

ok. so bad news. my anorexic newt escaped last night through a 1/2 inch hole in the lid. we did a full search of the tank and the house. didnt find a thing. hes proably dead by now because of lack of moisture on his skin.

RIP anorexic newt
