New Tank Idea
I have an empty 10gal and right now its sitting in my closet empty. Why, should I let a tank go to waste, so I have an idea for it. Im going to buy an Aqua Tech 5-15 filter for it and get it going with some gravel from my established tank and some new gravel to get it cycled.
Now, to the fun part stocking it! Im going to get 4 African Dwarf frogs and get them settled in, then add a few live bearers. I was thinking 3 or 4 Guppies one male and 2 or 3 females, or maybe platties.
For decoration and hiding spots I have a plastic tree stump which has holes in it for the frogs to hide in, kind of like a cave and its top is flat so they can lay on it, unless they just stay on the bottom all the time. I will also have some fake plants with broad leaves so they can lay on.
Im pretty excited about it since it will be the first time I try keeping African Dwarf Frogs. I hope to have it set up this week or next week and have the frogs and fish in after its cycled.

Frogs are fantastic little creatures, but honey, those livebearers are gonna overpopulate in a snap. If you really want some I would suggest maybe 4 of one gender. Unless you have a turtle or other (hungry )fish for the fry that is! Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Might wanna try a couple more frogs, they do well in larger groups. They might help with the fry as well.

What I was thinking was that the fry could be food for the frogs, and I do have a turtle too. I was just interested in the breeding thing and seeing it but I might just take your advice and get all one gender. So I should get more frogs? Whats a normal size group for them?

you could always just get several types of tetras of different colors. That would look pretty cool.

I believe you should have one or more empty tanks for a QT/hospital/fry tank on short notice.

This is true. Do you have any hospital, QT or extra fry tanks?
