Default Question on the building of GA aquarium

So I was curious, does anyone know of a place that goes over all that went into the building of the aquarium. IE say from designing the tanks to building them and then eventually to the stocking process? I am just curious in what was all involved, etc.

Thanks.

There is a lot of this info on their website. One of the best sources are their press releases
http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/
newsroom/pressReleases.aspx

Some info is in their FAQs (click on exhibit info)

(note - I broke up the links so everything appears)

Yah I know there is a lot of info, and I have read most of it already. What I am more interested in is all that went and. Like how they actually put together this 120 ton window, there designs so that they can hold all this weight etc.

I heard, and have no idea as to it's validity, that the acrylic that was used in the big sw tank and with the belugas, and maybe others also, was done by an Asian family that has been doing acrylic work forever. I was told that they would not let anyone oversee their work. All of it was done with no one else around. Like I said, I don't know if it's true or not. That's just what I heard... Not sure of anything else.

Has anyone been lately? I want to know if the pbass are back on display with the arapaimas.

I haven't gone lately but I was actually planning on going during this weekend, or maybe tomorrow afternoon. I will tell you if I see them.

I went last year and they were off display because they had just added something to the display tank. I can't remember what it was. That was most of the reason why I went.

That was a good price. I was given a season pass, though I wasn't able to go last week.

They aren't there... GOH!! And man that silver arowana is pitiful. I am sure it is the 30" pacus that are tearing it to pieces... The SA collection is pretty pitiful.. had a great time though.

Thanks for the heads up danh, and yah the last I saw that silver arowana I thought the exact same thing. I have to say though that the design of that section of aquariums is one of my favorite parts of the place. (IE the tall and over the head type deal)

That whole section is my favorite... And if they'd just put the pbass back on display that tank would be my favorite.. Heck... it's probably my favorite anyway.

I am trying to remember what a friend of mine told me about them and having to move them. It might have just been that they weren't getting a long, but I know there was a really good reason that they had to pull them out. Though unfortunately my friend no longer is volunteering with them let alone in the state so I don't know if they will ever be back in that tank.
