i am getting an upgraded bigger tank (20gal)
and was wondering about what to put on the bottom? is their a benifit to using gravel or sand, or vise versa? are their better options opinions please and thank you

I have just about converted all my tanks to sand. I just like it better. I have corys and loaches that really love sand. I also find it easier to maintain.
On the other hand, gravel is better if you are going to have live plants. They anchor much better in the gravel. It is also more forgiving of junk on the bottom between cleaning and it gives the 'good-guy' bacteria more surface area. These are just my thoughts.
