My tap water appears to be extremely hard. My test kit is the kind where you put water in a test tube and add drops of solution until the water turns green. 1 drop = 1dGH. Well, I just tested my water and I couldn't get it to turn green. I quit at 40 drops and the water is dark yellow. If I had to guess I'd say it would take at least 50 drops for it to reach its green endpoint.
Is it just me or is this alarming to you too? The test kit is 5 years old, could that have something to do with it? |

I would definitely say so. I don't use any test kits that are beyond 2 yrs old. Some kits have an 'expiration' date on them, so you may want to look and see if your has one.
