I have a 1/2 gallon bowl, which came with a small plant, water conditioner and some fish food. I'm 13, so I don't have the money to buy a bigger aquarium, neither do I have the time to feed my fish 5 times a day.
And also, I wanted to know if you like Nemo or Poseidon better... I'm hesitating between those two names. Thank you! |

If you haven't the money for a proper home or the time to feed them properly, then you need to return them. Nothing is suitable for a 1/2g bowl other than maybe some shrimp or snails. I wouldn't even put a betta in one. Fantails need a much larger tank along the lines of a 20g tank with proper filtration (they are VERY messy fish) and care. I understand you are young but certainly not too young to learn to properly care for an animal or to do without until you can.

Hi, poison love. Welcome to the forum. I agree that your bowl is too small to accommodate the fish you have. A modest estimate for your fantail's final size is 6 inches. Some suggest they near a foot.
You can get yourself a decent 10 gallon setup for about $50. I still wouldn't go with a goldfish in there, but it would be a suitable enviornment for a few community fish. Until you can get that (Christmas is only a few months away Also, the fact that you don't have time to feed your fish 5 times a day is wonderful. Teenagers should be kept busy, and fish shouldn't be fed more than once a day. I hope that helps! |
