I purchased four plants from a fish store called all pets club. Place is more like a zoo/aquarium then a pet store. They were selling bala sharks for 99 cents, 99 percent of them probably going to end up dead. Anyway, are snails bad for my tank Im currently cycling a 55 gallon with guppies a crayfish and I just added the four plants. There was snails on the plants and i didnt see them until they started crawling all over the tank. The tank has been running for 2 weeks now. Should I kill the snails or leave them be?

I wouldn't use chems to kill them, because the bio load of dead snails rotting, may cause other problems...I'd suggest a loach

I definitely would not recommend a loach or anything else until the cycle is complete. If you don't want them, throw a carrot or other veggie in, or even just an algae wafer. Wait awhile and once the snails are on it, pull it out and dispose of the snails.

i dont get rid of the snails, they dont mess with my plants, but if u want them gone, just catch them with a net, and put them outside, or just kill them

I killed them, R.I.P. snails. I just popped them like a zit and fed them to my cray.
I am trying to feed my cray big and fat while i cycle my tank. Im going to hook him once fishing season starts so i can catch a nice delicious bass. I hate cray, he always rips up my bulbs and breaks my plants. Revenge will soon be mine cray.... |
