Default wattage for plants in a 10g

i got 2 diffrent kinds of lights. . . . what is better for plants?



25w 120v Aqua glo AQUARIUM LIGHT BULB
or
15w 120v Aqua Culture Incandescent AQUARIUM PLANT GROTH BULB

I'd go with the 25w bulb.

hummm. . . . . i actually had one of each and i went with the 25w. . . . . . but it makes the water look red ish? i dont know how to decribe it. but the bulb its self looks almost purpleish. . . . . . normal or abnormal?

Purplish bulb is normal for a bulb that's meant for growing plants. I don't like that light to be the only light in my tank: one daylight + one purpllish suits my tastes best. (This is a fluorescent bulb, right?)

I'm with JustOneMore20, use the 25w. A 15w incandescent produces far too much heat and far too little light.

no it is not floresnt, i got some floresent ones tho today. looks great, they are the twist ones. . . . . it was 5$ per bulb and i got 2. are these good for plants that require low lights?

What are the wattages of the ones you got? About 20w of fluorescent light in total would be good for a moderately lit 10g tank.

they are 10 watts each.. . . . .. 20 watt total. so that would be ok for low light plants?

20w in total is cool! You should be able to grow more than just low light plants in this tank. I would call this a medium amount of light, so you grow quite a variety of stuff. Smaller echinodorus (swords), stem plants that don't get too big, Vallisneria, Sagittaria, most things that aren't really demanding.
