Default Getting Kuchill Loach(or however you spell it) to eat

Well my loach is being lazy, I know he's a bit nocturnal but he should be coming out to get his food during the day. All he does is burrow himself under the gravel and as soon as the lights go out he start's scavanging for leftover good's which usually all there is left is some Barb poop. I dont feed him meat's quite yet I want him to start coming out first. I guess I could start feeding him the bloodworm's and stuff if that's the only way to get him to eat.

Loaches are very social, so maybe if you added 3-4 more to the tank they would come out more often. Kuhlis are generally nocturnal though and I've heard they hide almost all the time....but add more and see how that goes.

Your Iridescent shark is going to get huge and shouldn't be kept in a 29g tank (actually they get way too large for any aquarium IMO), so perhaps you can trade that for 6 or so Kuhlis and maybe with a large group they will come out more often.

Are you feeding him anything? Kuhlis need some kind of food....a bottom feeder wafer or pellet would be a good food for him.

The ones I had (and I never had more than 4) were always out in the open.

I drop in bottom feeder wafers in every day along with the normal feeding. Usually the bottom feeders dont touch them but the other fish will pick on them. I think he's eating though because every morning I wake up and the wafers are completly gone and theres a bunch of poop. Ill stay awake while the lights are off and watch him. If he still doesnt eat ill introduce some meat.

Actually, kuhli loaches are solitary in the wild but they group with other kuhli loaches if they are present. You don't want to put too many hiding places/spots or else you'll basically never see them.

I have 3 together... mine are always out. When I kept one by itself, it hid all the time. If you'd like to see them, Id suggest more than one. However, as mentioned in other threads... I don't think anyone is going to recommend you add more fish with your current set up.

When I had these fish, the only way to get them to come out is getting 2 or more of them. They stick together in a little group and will go out into the open and swim/play.

Yes, get more kuhlis, you have room in your tank. In my 20g tank I have 4 and they are my favorites. Always feed them at night. Before, I had one in a 10g tank, and I thought it would never get food because all the other fish hogged it, but it always managed to find something to eat in that tank and now I moved him to my 20g to be with the other kuhlis
