Sunday we got two fish. I can’t remember the names exactly but I do remember it was “something dwarf guppy”. I am kicking myself because I forgot it. I kept repeating it in the store so I wouldn’t forget. I have searched the net but no names jump out at me and I can’t find any pictures that look like my fish.
I think the guy in the pet store told me incorrect information after reading a little bit here. He said I could keep them in a bowl and told me to just get regular goldfish food. He was rude the whole time and didn’t want to really help me so I think he was just trying to get rid of me fast. I will never go there again! When I watch them eat they will take the food into their mouth and then spit it back out. So I’m not sure if it’s the correct food. I am so worried about these fish! My husband keeps getting mad at me because of how I am acting. He just doesn’t get it. I have become so attached to them. I will feel horrible if they die because of my ignorance! Up until lat night they were on the kitchen counter. Husband didn’t want them in there anymore so I moved them until he left for work. The water seemed way too cold so I put a desk lamp by it to warm the water. Here are the best pictures I could get. If anyone could tell me the specific name I would greatly appreciate it!

Yes, BV77 is right. They are platys.
Never trust the LFS...ever! He was completely wrong. These guys need a cycled, filtered, and heated tank. Not a bowl. I suggest reading around the forum for a while about setting up a new fish tank and the nitrogen cycle.

Yes... I have that fish it is a Platy.
Did you know that it is a Tropical Fish, so you will need a filter and a heater. Also, you can't put normal tap water in the bowl, it needs to be treated with tap water conditioner (buy from local pet shops). Hope this helps you! Tropical Lee

I'm going to take a stab at it and say that is a sunburst platy.

Here is a link that tells about your fish
http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/Fishindx/platy.htm And here is another that tells about the nitrogen cycle and how to set up the tank.. http://www.firsttankguide.net/steps.php There are many good posts on this site as well. Try these... http://www.fishforums.com/forum/gene...le-basics.html http://www.fishforums.com/forum/live...le-female.html From looking at your pic I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the one on the left is a male and the other is a female. If I'm right the female may already be gravid (pregnant) and you may have from 1 to 3 weeks before she drops fry.
