Default How do you go about rinsing sand?

Hi, well I'm about to set up a tank with sand substrate. I remember last time I did that, had 2 keep making water changes until it was clear....

So then people started telling me to rinse sand, like I would with rocks. The thing is, with rocks I use a cullender (spl) (the thing you'd rinse noodles or grapes or like lettuce). Obviously I can't do that with sand, so, how do I rinse sand?

All you need is a 5 gallon bucket and a hose.

Put the sand in the bucket and run the hose in it continuously, (while mixing the sand around a bit) so dirty water will overflow and pour out. Continue until the water overflowing from the bucket is clear.

( if you mix to much the sand will like disolve into the water and over flow also mix somewhat gently )

Sand does not dissolve in water.
