Default the best way to feed chiclids

is it a good idea to feed my chiclids a mixture of flakes and bloodworm's??????

If you have Mbuna Cichlids, they are mostly herbivores, meaning the majority of their diet should be vegetable based foods. I would not feed them Bloodworms, as it contains too much animal protein.

You should be feeding them a flake that is mainly vegetable based, like Spirulina flakes. You could give them Brine shrimp as an occasional treat (once a week or so).

This is assuming you have Mbuna. If you have something different, can you list them?

good article. If her fish are the ones in avatar, pea****************s do need some protein, they eat snails, but spirulina flake is the best staple and usually has 40-50% protein anyway. Avoid bloodworms, there is some suggestion that they are linked to the dreaded "Malawi bloat".

Omega One also makes a great vegetable flake. Seaweed (the kind used for sushi) can be put in a veggie clip and Mbuna love it.
