Default Reccomended testing products..

Can anyone reccomend some good testing products for nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia? Also a good product line in general for removing chlorine/chloramine? I want to purchase some good products that I can trust but I am new to this and feel overwhelmed with all the options for testing strips/testing drops/etc.....Thanks!

the aquarium pharmaceuticals line of liquid test kits, i find to be pretty great. i use amquel+ as an all purpose water "safe-maker" (haha what?) it removes chlorine, chloramine, detoxifies ammonia and other harmful compounds.

hope that helps

I have used the following with good luck.

You will also need a Tetratest Nitrate Test Kit

Please note that, IMHO, no dechlorinate removes chlorine and chloramines but only reduces them to ammonia, then to nitrites and then to nitrates.

I have used Seachem Prime with good luck.

Also please note that I had done a ton of research with respect to dechlorinates before purchasing Seachem Prime.

I also recommend the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals test kit. I have used it for years (actually need a new one now). I also have some of the Hagen Nutrafin kits as well and they are a tad more expensive, but also good.

As far as dechlorinator goes, I use Seachem Prime. It is concentrated, so you use less, making it last longer than other dechlorinators.

Ah it feels so good to bask in the warm glow of good advice! As to testing supplies, I also use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals master test kit. It comes with everything you need, has shown to be pretty accurate and is a great value, so you can save your money for other important things like fighting crime and evil-doery!

I'm also a big fan of the Seachem Prime. The stuff smells like the dark belly of a hideous beast, but it sure does work and save you money! Quality and value! Isn't this country great?!?!?!

I use API Master kit if I have time, Jungle's 5 in 1 if I don't have time.

Seachem Prime all the way
