I fed my fish about 20 minutes ago and i realised there are some weird "smudges" on the sides of the glass. I tried to wipe it away but it came off my finger like a thin slimey film. It looks liike finger prints placed throughout the tank. I included a picture but i dont know which link would be best so ill try a few...
Thank you for any help, i am freaking out!! ![]()

OK i have done a bit more research and i think its:
Brown Algae: Diatoms. They form brown patches on plants but are most visible on the glass of your aquarium. Usually seen early in an aquarium's life, this "algae" is fairly easy to deal with. It is readily eaten by sucker-mouth fish like the inexpensive catfish (Otocinclus vittatus). Said to be caused by excess nutrients and silicates. Do you think this is correct?? If it is should i get a sucker fish and what type should i get?

Don't get a suckerfish. Clean it off, reduce your feedings, up your waterchanges, and make sure your lights are not on more than 8-10 hrs/day.

: D yay i was hoping you would reply, your advice makes the most sense. OK I dont usually use a light because it is in a corner of a sunroom (not in direct or even reflect light) and sometimes turn a light on at night until 10. Should i move the tank or not use the light after dark?

I'd move the tank, and then just use the light for maybe 8 hours a day.
