Stocking a 14 Gallon Tanks

I have an empty 14 gallon tank and need suggestions on stocking it.

It has a filter, heater, and an air pump. Im going to add some fake plants or maybe some java fern.

I want some corries or some type of bottom feeder.
Something for the middle of the tank and something for the top.

What are the dimensions of the tank?

I wouldn't put all those fish in there ^^.

Its only 14 gallons.

Stick to Dwarf Cories (C. hastatus, C. habrosus, C. pygmaeus) and get 8 of those. Then you could get a school of something small.

Centerpiece could be a Honey Gourami or a pair of Honeys.

Its hard to stock the different areas (top, middle, lower) in small tanks.

The dimensions are 20Lx10Wx15H

I was going to use my betta as the centerpiece and would a school of neon tetras work

Tetras would work, but they can be nippy. I know my old neons were so I took them back and exchanged them for black neons

OK this is just a suggestion but what if i got 2 dwarf gournami's and the 8 pygmy corrys can they be with bettas or even the corrys

Gourami's and betta's cannot be kept together, they are both labyrinth fish. It's usually inadvisable to keep more then one gourami, the chances however are better if they are all female, although I've seen honey gourami's kept together and they were ok.

. I have kept platies with my bettas and they did just fine

You could have around 4 platies (3f/1m) and a Betta, plus maybe some Dwarf Cories. Or skip the Betta and have the 4 Platies. I'm sure they'll breed eventually and give you some fry to fill the tank up with.

Otherwise, you could do 8 Dwarf Cories (make sure they are a dwarf species), and 6-7 Tetras.....or 7-8 Tetras (small) and a Betta or Honey gourami.

See my sig for my set-up. They are all quite happy and peaceful. The Glowlights actively school and it's awesome wathcing them swim together in a group form one end to the other.

I have kept a blue gourami with a beta before with no problem with fighting or anything.

how large was your tank?

Bettas, as a general rule, will attack anyhting with long fins. Gouramis fit that bill nicely. Granted the tank is large enough, you could do it, but in a 14 gallon, I wouldn't advise it.

In a 10g tank they kinda fought but stoped in a day in the 55g they never saw each other I guess.
