Default Stocking question 12G Eclipse

I have a 12G eclipse with 3 platies 2f/1m, and a pair of male guppies I was wondering if I had room to add a few otos to help with some algea, but I know they like to be kept in groups. So I guess I was wondering if I could add them and not be over stocked? If so how many?

As long as you're diligent with water changes, I don't see anything wrong with adding about 5.

yeah I change about 20-30% every two to three days, are otos as delicate as I have heard? It makes me wonder if I should go with a pleco instead? Are there any plecos that would suit my sized tank, I know some can get really big. Thanks for bearing with me as I am a total noob!

I have a 4 or 5 ottos in my 12 gallon and surprisingly they are the only type of fish I haven't lost since I've been fish keeping (haven't lost many). I do a 25% change once a week.

Otos are delicate, I can't for the life of me keep them alive. But try your luck with them. There are no plecos small enough for a 12 gallon, sorry!

I have no luck with Otos but they are cool. Julie is right, there are no plecos that you can really keep in a 12 gallon. You could get a dwarf species if you plan on getting a bigger tank somewhere down the line.

I have read that certain kinds of snails are great with algae. I think that they are gross so I don't have any.
