Default Ideas, ideas!

So, I need so ideas I'm setting up a 10gal tank, and I'm still on the fence with what I want to put in it. I know I'm going freshwater; it's the easiest for me to set-up and I know more about freshwater than saltwater, LOL.

I'd really like a cichlid tank, get a couple of blue rams or maybe some multis I've been hearing about. If I don't go that route, I've considered going into the way of a school of tiger barbs, or a school of glofish if I decide to just go more community type fish. I'm so on the fence, haha!

Any ideas, tips, advice?

Dwarf cichlid pairs could be good. I can vouch for them. They are AWESOME fish....I have both rams and cockatoo apistos, they even breed! And the lfs pays good for them too!

Tiger barbs would not work in small of an aquarium.

A small shoal of schooling fish would work (small fish).

What do you prefer?

I would highly highly highly recommend the multies You can't go wrong. I have 5 in a ten gallon and they are actively spawning. I have 5 of the fry that are ready to go, and when I talked to my lfs about it, they said they would give me 25 dollars for them. I paid 30 for my starting 5 at a club swap meet... So I'd say that's pretty good! Of course, I have a wonderful lfs, but my point is that getting rid of fry shouldn't be too difficult.

Also, multies have great personalities, the novelty of the fact that they live in shells never ceases to impress and mesmerize guests, it's hilarious to look in the aquarium at midnight and not see a thing because they're all sleeping in their shells, watching them dig can occupy you for hours, they have AMAZING blue eyes, are very peaceful for cichlids, and can live in a community tank. They don't require much at all in terms of water conditions, except that they won't do well in soft and acidic water. All in all, a GREAT little fish (actually much bigger than I expected them to be ) and again, you just can't go wrong.

A pair of rams wouldn't work well in a 10 gallon IMO. I'd say that you'd do well with betta imbellis. They are very pretty. I am biased though, lol as I am "betta man".

a pair of blue rams would work great in a 10 gallon...they stay under 4 inches and really aren't that hard to take care of....it is best to have the tank planted with a couple of caves with a nice flat stone in front of it and some plants all around the sides and back......
