Question Can you identify this fish?

looks like a geophagus sp. to me, or a similar genus.

Its about 2 inches long, thanks for the replies! Are geophagus and birchardi the same thing? I looked them both up and when i looked up geophagus there was a picture of something that looked exactly the same. Birchardi looked similar also.

I'm pretty sure your fish is in this group of three S. American cichlid genera. Geophagus, gymnogeophagus and satoneperca. I'd guess Geophagus brasiliensis, but you may have to wait until it is larger to tell which species it is. Where did you get it?

Brichardi is a species name of 2 african cichlids named for Pierre Brichard. If there is a earth eater with that name, I haven't encountered it yet.
