Default Hard water stains

The tank Im using is kinda old but After I cleaned it looks great except for the Glass Hood.
It has these White Stains on it My dad says they are hard water stains.
I have scrubbed them for hours but they wont come off.
Are there any Fish safe Chemicals I can use to get them off?

Oh and sorry for all the questions! Im kinda new to fish!

In all likelyhood, there will always be a certain degree of staining. I have been able to diminish mine, but not completely remove them. Best thing I can recomend to clean it is white vinegar and elbow grease. If possible soak whatever needs cleaning(if the hood is seperate from the lighting fixture), and then attack it with a somewhat stiff bristle brush. If you have a battery powered scrubber that may save you a little effort.

If it all doesn't come out at once, you can try it again, as repeated cleanings may help, but if you have hard water where the tank is going to be used now, once will be enough because the stains will be back anyway.

I dont think I do but it was my dads tank and has been sitting in storage for about 7 years.
I spent like a week cleaning that thing out making sure there was not a speck of dirt on it.

you might want to do yourself a favor, if the tank has been stored that long, you might want to set it in the garage or basement (somewhere where it won't be the end of the world if it get's wet) fill it up, and make sure it doesn't leak. Sometimes the years will compromise the silicone seals, and its better to find out it leaks in the garage as ooposed to the carpeted living room, if you get what I mean!
