I have a telescope-eye goldfish in a 7 gallon aquarium. I have had him since June, don't know how old he is. He was always just fine, swimming around and looking like he's having a good time. The last few months, the algae took over his tank. We have that under control now but throughout that time he would just sit at the bottom of the tank. He still does. He shakes a fin at me when I come in the room but other than that, he's really gotten lazy! He still eats-I tried feeding him peas the other night but they didn't interest him much. He still eats his other food though. I only feed him every other day now. He looks healthy for the most part although he has some fuzzies hangin from his fins. It doens't look like velvet or a parasite or anything, just looks like a fuz. Anyone have any suggestions or some sort of help for me??? Thanks a lot!

Ich can look like little pieces of white fuz. Get some ich medicine or some aquarium salt and it should get fixed.

ich doesn't look like fuzz at all... fungus and bacterial infections can, however I'm thinking fungal here. Get some premafix and treat him.
FYI, goldfish really shouldn't be kept in a small tank like that, they need at least 20 gallons to grow to their large size.

i found that using pimafix and melafix together works wonders. Ive used it for fungul infections and the meds cleaned it up nicely.

Thanks everyone for their opinions...I will be buying out a fishie drug store tonight after work-I'll keep you posted.
Fishfirst-I got my fishie from another girl who had him for a few years. He's actually full grown now (so I think) and he used to be satisfied with his tank size...I think I will look into getting him a bigger tank though. I had thought about that before but didn't want to jump into it if I didn't need that large of a tank for him. Thanks for your help. =) |
