Default Betta's being territorial

So i have a 10 gallon tank with a few guppies and 2 newts and one female betta. That female does fine. She is a little shy, but still is just like another fish in the tank. Now i have another white betta that i had to isolate in a VARY small plastic tank because she started killing my guppies and not to eat them. I was wondering if there was any way to tone down how territorial she was. I don't have a male anywhere and she was fine. I have a feeling its because the tank is a little crowded, but if i was to add more plants and hiding places would it help, or do i just have to deal with an aggressive fish?

Yes, she is very aggressive IMHO but also bettas don't like guppies unless they are feeder guppies and even then there is a risk that he/she will kill it. I keep my bettas alone because they are happier that way, maybe you could invest in a small tank about 3G at least to keep her in?

Bettas and colorful fish with flowing tails do not normally mix. Your docile betta is the exception, not the rule.
