Ignorant Puffer Pal..

Right now I only have freshwater puffers, Dwarfs, Golden Puffer, Fahaka Puffer, and a Congo Puffer (Tetraodon miurus)

Back when I would just buy the fish I like not knowing much about them, I had Corys and Green Spotted, Figure Eight, and Peruvian Puffers in the same tank for almost two years. Then the experts in a forum told me, in order to keep the Green Spotted and Figure Eight alive I needed to add enough salt that would kill the Corys .... No doubt, I became overwhelmed. I didn't even own a test kit!! More or less a thingy amajig to start to worry about salt per cubit. What's a cubit anyway? See being naive I still think test kits are like a thermometer. I never took my temperature when I wasn't sick. I finally calmed down when I realized
this tank was in the other room and they couldn't see the screen! So they might stay fat happy and healthy as long as I didn't let them find out all the things I was doing wrong ...THAT WAS CLOSE!...
Another thing an expert would know is rather or not I should toss these creek craws in the Fahaka's Tank. All I know is one place Fahaka Puffers are found is in Africa's 4th largest Lake. This lake has become way shallow for a number of reasons (Africa is not immune to the plight of the rain forrest) The Chad Lake Basin is surrounded by a population of some of the poorest folk $350.00 per capita. I was wondering how many can afford to pay their sewer bills.. They do have cattle though.
Plus with the erosion and evaporation, the African wildlife are gathering and taking dumps in the tributaries as well. Including elephants ... I did see a Bluejay dump in the creek where I get the craws!

Anyway, ONLY AN EXPERT COULD TELL YOU FAHAKA PUFFERS are freshwater. Because despite the evaporation, Chad Lake Basin is not saline... And
one of the other places Fahaka Puffers are found is in the Senegal River in Africa which flows into the Atlantic Ocean... So how would I know!?!

Ok, I'm a little confused. Did you have a question about something or need clarification about something? One doesn't need to be an expert to know something, just need to do some research.

Are all of your puffers in the same tank? Puffers should be in species only tanks as they don't get along well with each other or others long term. In addition, I'm not sure how big your fahaka is but it grows about an inch per month for the first year, gets to be a total of about 18 inches, and requires a 125 gallon tank.

Yes, Figure Eight and Green Spotted Puffers require marine salt in brackish conditions. Figure Eights need to be in low end brackish (1.005-1.008) and GSPs need high end brackish (1.018-1.022 but most keep them in marine so they can use skimmers).
