Yesterday I went to a couple LFS and got some malaysian trumpet snails I believe, judging by the color and shape. I got home and started acclimating them to my 1.005 brackish water. I poured the bag with the snails in a plastic container and over the course of about 35 minutes I kept adding 1 turkey baster worth of brackish water every 5 minutes. The snails seemed to be fine, they came out, they were crawling around. I finally dumped them in the tank and when I checked on them 20 minutes later they were all into their shells. I promptly removed them and put them in almost freshwater small aquarium. They're gone however, it's been since yesterday and they haven't come out.
Using the turkey baster method, how am I really supposed to acclimate these fellas? How long should I take? Are there other snails I can try besides MTS? What I'm looking for is basically snails that will burrow in my sand substrate to keep it moving. |
