Well, after a two year (or so) break from Bumblebee Gobies, I finally picked up a pair a few days ago. I'm going back next week to pick up about 4 or so if I have the money. They're currently in a ten gallon planted, slowly being raised to a Sg of 1.004. I only have two, but they seem to "court" with being in the tank for a few days. Hopefully after I add more, and a few snail shells, they'll go through with it. I'll post pics if I ever get ahold of a camera (mines still broken..).
I think i'm starting to get into planted tanks Tank: HOB power filter Black Tahitian Moon Sand Driftwood "Cave" Various Rocks 3 Species of Aponogetons Small Area of Jungle Vallisneria 2 Recovering Amazon Swords Large Area of Java Moss and One Small Plant of Java Fern DIY co2 Yeast Injection I'm currently in a position where my tanks are either being taken down, or being made less "technical.- and this set-up is proving perfect. Small, easily maintained, and looks great. I'm thinking of re-doing the 65 (when I can) for a community tank full of mainly loaches, oddballs, and a large Veil-Tail Angelfish (Not usually into fish like this, but they had a "show specimen" that I just had to have"). Wish me luck lol.

Gump, I have a dat and gar in the 65
The gobies were about 2.50$ each. I only had 5$ on me so I only bought two at the time. I'm thinking of adding some Echinodorus tenellus to finish the deco. I don't want to get rid of the dat or gar, but it's something I may have to do

You will have to get rid of them if the 65 is the big tank in the house. Don't let the hobby put you out. It's suppost to be fun.

The 65 is a growout tank... I was planning on upgrading to a 210 gallon tank.. but I doubt it's going to happen soon with everything going on.

Excellent sounding set up! I definately hope you get them to court that would be cool. Planted tanks are beautiful but I know what you mean, they require a lot more work.
After having a few planted tanks, only one or two really working out - I decided to go cheap and get plastic stuff. Always liked Bumblebee gobies, but I know they'd be snacks in my tank Last edited by Daeorn; 07-19-2007 at 10:26 AM. |

Bumblebees are great, I would set up a brackish tank if they start carrying Figure 8 puffers around here again T_T.
Off to a great start, although is the driftwood sealed? I read that in salinity the wood will rot. |

I love my bumblebee gobies. I have them in with my mudskippers and they're quite the cute little guys.

If you really want to know... I'm inbetween 3 seperate houses, planning on living full time with my sister now, my parents are getting divorced, among 500 other things. So, yes, I do have a lot going on in my life, i've always have.
One of the bumblebee gobies ended up dying, but when I get more money- i'm buying about 4-5 more. It was the smaller of the two, and the bigger one eventually got territorial with it. I just picked up a weather loach and 2 small pencilfish for my other tank, they may be going in the 65 when it's finished. So far, I think it may take a while to finish the tank. I'm going with presurrized co2 this time around, among other things... so i'm hoping it turns out. The driftwood isn't sealed- i've never really had any pieces sealed before. The salinity is only 1.004 or so, so it's not that bad. I don't really worry much about it.
