Default Brackish Algae Eater

In my brackish tank a layer of algae is growning all over the sand. Is there any brackish fish taht will eat algea, and go with my figure eight puffer? The SG of the tank is 1.005. I hear mollies eat algae, but will a mollie go with my puffer?

Mollies eat hair algae. This doesn't sound like what you have.

oh, I like mollies anyway, do you think that a black molly would go with my puffer? If it wasn't a puffer, I could get a shrimp, I toss a few ghost shrimp in 1-2 times a onth, the might clean it a bit next time until they get eaten.

You're on the very outer edge of their range up there in New Jersey, but if you can find some Sheepshead Pupfish, Cyprinodon varigatus, you'll find them excellent. They have a bright metallic blue patch with some orange, are tough as nails and able to hold their own against the puffer, and they are absolutely ravenous algae eaters. You can catch them in the estuarine areas near the coast, or get them on Aquabid in the US natives section.

Wait a minute! I just read onlinet, that when you take a puffer out of the watera nd he tried to puff up, he sucks in air. It is most likely fatal for a puffer to puff air! My LFS took him right out of the water, carried him 5 feet to a table, and dropped him in a cup. Do you think tath could be the problem? If I ever get another one, I will make sure it is not taken out of the water by that LFS!
