My science teacher asked me to help him set up and maintain a 10gallon brackish water tank. My problems are how many table spoons or tea spons(I always mix those up) do in need to get 1.007-1.010sg???? Also, since i live on a brackish water canal and i love to collect species of plants and animal(only for a day or two). And he wants me too collect species and bring them to school to stock the tank....Is this legal????? Thank you!

well I'm not sure about how to get the salt levels that u need but to harvest and keep local species can be illegal in someplaces. But to keep them and release them bck is very illegal in most places. Aquarium disease can evolve in natural habitats into deadlier diseases which can kill thousands of local species.

One Word: Croutons.

Most plants can be taken from the wild.
If im not mistaken its about anywhere from 1-3 tablespoons per gallon for salt. Check the sg of your local stream if your going to take fish from there. Look online for any laws on taking fish. The sg should be about 1.005-1.0012 for most brackish fish, I usually prefer 1.008 though. Where are you from and what fish do you have access to?

3 tablespoons of Instant Ocean per gallon works perfectly for me.

this is a very old post, check the dates of the last post. He has already setup this tank, you can give more input on the post titled "Native Fish" in the section
