I would think it would be kind of difficult. You would have to deal with shrinkage if the water is cold and then it would need to be a large clownfish to begin with. Also those fins might hurt if you get rubbed the wrong way.

Sry i dont understand what you are talking about. When i got my second tank. There was a mandarin goby and a true percula. I have a false percula and wondered if it was possible to make them breed. Also, i dont think i can take care of the mandarin, because it is becoming a faded color. Do you think the LFS will buy it from me?

Local Fish Stores are not allowed to "buy" fish from anyone other than licensed breeders & wholesalers. They might however trade you something or take it just to save it from death.
If you reread my post you will see I was being humorous. False Percs & True Percs will pair up and cross breed but don't count on keeping any fry alive unless you have an elaborate setup designed just for breeding clownfish and a lot of money.

Perhaps it is only a Florida law. It it illegal here for us to even take in freebies from any unlicensed person(s).

I don't know where/how since I don't need one but I am sure of it. I have a copy of the Florida Statute that states it in my store!

Gotta be a florida thing.
I can understand not being able to claim things bought from unlicensed people on taxes, but not being able to take anything? That's just stupid. And Florida wonders why it's overrun with exotics! Sheesh! If people can't unload their stuff in stores, where does the state think it's going to go? |

One Word: Croutons.

A lot of the stores here MAY take in your fish, buy them, etc. There are a few around here though that will not even if they know your good with them. They did it back then. and they kept getting diseases and such. When I was trying to thin down the collection a few years ag, they flat out denied me even if I would have treated them first.

I would not advertise that too much. FWC can and will shut them down by taking their licence.
