Dotyybacks

Starting this month, TFH is running a multi-part series on breeding dottybacks. I'm considering trying it.

I've found that tankraised dottybacks are far less aggressive than wildcaught. A whole tankful can be kept with very little trouble compared to the hassle of trying to keep just two wild ones. Even the super nasty ones like dutoitis are downright happy community fish. I suppose it must be due to the artificial way they're raised, in that they're crowded, never have any territory to establish and don't interact normally with other wild fish, thusly not learning the skills/etiquette needed on the reef which lead to their normal crankiness. The upshot of this of course is that such fish are more desirable for aquaria and easier to sell.

oldsalt, do you know the distant of territory that is reccomened for a dottyback. i was think of purchasing a 15' tank and am curious to know how many different ones i can place in the tank.
