For my pleco I use a long tool that I have that looks like giant tweezers to place a whole waffer in his favorite spot under my driftwood. He usually finds it within 5 minutes and goes to town on it.

It depends on what type of fish you are feeding, IMO. I break them up for my Cories and shrimp, but for my Bristlenose, I put in a couple whole ones.

I know that if I just drop 3 or 4 wafers in my tank, my fish usually find them within 5 minutes. My albino pleco especially, even though he's only about 2.5" will find one and devour it within 10 minutes and move on looking for another. I've never had to break them apart. Most of the fish can see it or smell it when I drop it into the tank

i'v never had a problem with my pleco finding them, and i usually just drop then in whole unless its a very small pleco and the disk is rather large then probly break it in half, and if you put more than it eats in a night then just remove the left-over.

I break it up into fairly small pieces for my Cories, and my Gouramis enjoy them as well.

I used to stick the whole thing in there because it is cute watching them all huddle togather but I felt like I was teasing them so I stopped doing that.

You also want to feed them pellets, 'logs' (they are called pellets but they are long)and even some fresh vegies like peas, cucumber, or lettuce to make sure they are getting all the nutrition they need. Veggies can be a bit messy so from what I understand. I haven't feed them yet but plan on doing so soon. They also enjoy w/e brine shrimp can make it to the bottom before the top/mid dwellers snatch them up.

In regards to placing the wafer next to your pleco's favorite spot you can use tongs, or just stick your hand it. I mess with my plants so much my fish are used to seeing my big paws in there, and my Gouramis will even nip at the hair on my arms.

I just drop it in and let if float down. They will find it.
And I have my hands in my tanks all the time. Just be sure to rinse them good first to make sure you don't have any soap, colone, chemicals etc on you. My fish would be lost if I didn't stick my hands in and play with them at least once a day. lol
