Question Pleco growth rate

I was wondering how long it takes for a regular pleco to get to their max size. I've heard someone had one for 3 years, and it was about 7-8 in. long. I was just wondering. I will be supplying a much bigger tank for them when they get bigger, right now they are very small.

ya, i have a filter in there. another question: i've noticed that they like to sray at the bottom of the and suck on it, that's the part where all the junk goes in and stuff, but if they're there, then they block it. how do i keep them from doing this? bigger tank, i know, but for the meantime i'm worried that it might hurt them. but i think plecos are some of the hardiest fish. thanks for any tips.

pleco takes 4 years from birth to reach maximum size. it is possible to cut this time in half by feeding it and keeping it in perfect health.
