consists of a 1200lph powerhead, a vac tube and a old water bottle with a pushfit adapter fitted to the bottom, the acaras are getting big now and with that so does there poop, needed more power to suck it out

I like this project. I have one of my own in process now I am trying to get all the parts together before starting. Going to do a HOB type. I purchased one and it was pretty expensive and I was expecting a bit more as well. I just have to figure it all out and do what you did and just DO IT>>>
If my HOB project fails I will be talking to you soon about your project here, it looks very well planned and thought out.

OH no Kcrunch does that mean the workbench at liberty is going to be cluttered with another one of your projects, again! Your project looks really cool weedkiller, I would love to see some video of it in action. Oh and also (me being an electrician)....please make sure you plug that sucker into a GFI outlet when your using it.

ok heres the updated version of my power vac, changed from the bottle to the food jar type container because the bottles neck made it awkward to change and position the filter media properly.
also added a pipe as the powerhead has a top outlet as well as a front so if the powerhead was too close to the water surface it was a fountain,

Yup it sure does, I might get it right. I am looking to duplicate the cobalt hang on back vac. I picked one up but it is not as strong on suction as I would like it to be so I am going to work on changing it up a bit.

The pump im using at the moment is rated at 1200lph... probs a little less and the filter media will block a little.works well but Recon a variable 2000lph would work best, will be experimenting with different filter media to see what works best, next I will try a block of sponge filter slipped over the pump inlet and see how that works.
